Process Engineering Upgrader

Jorge Plaja is a Chemical Engineer graduated from the Metropolitan University in Caracas, Venezuela. Started his professional career in 1987, working for PDVSA at Maraven – Cardon Refinery occupying multiple technical and operational positions in different process units, as well as participating in large-scale projects such as Maraven Refinery Expansion Project, MREP.

In 1999, he was part of the Commissioning and Startup Team of one of the strategic associations of PDVSA, known as Sincrudos de Oriente, SINCOR. During 8 years, he developed supervisory and managerial skills, which allowed him to reach the HSE Manager position at SINCOR Upgrader Division.

In 2007, he undertook a new course towards other countries, such as Spain, Colombia and Saudi Arabia, where he participated in different projects carried out by the national Oil & Gas industries, during Engineering, Construction and Commissioning phases.

In 2012, he moved to Canada where he has worked for the oil & gas industry in the Province of Alberta, managing multidiscipline engineering teams and delivering strong technical support for operation and maintenance organizations achieving a more efficient and reliable production. In the last years, he successfully performed distinct roles from Technical Manager to Process Engineer – Upgrader Advisor post that he held until end of 2016.
